The Battle of the D’orsay Flats! Jenni Kayne Gets Some Competition…

Definition: A d’Orsay style is a shoe in which the vamp of the shoe is cut away very close to the toe box, and the sides are cut away, revealing the arch of the foot.

Pronunciation: door-say

I’ve been long obsessed with the d’Orsay pump, but a few years ago, Jenni Kayne launched a PERFECT pointy toed flat in nearly every dreamy color and texture a fashion girl would conjure up. Pony hair, embossed leather, croc skin, linen, suede, matte leather, shiny leather, etc.  The only prob? They’re a liiiiiiiittle pricey, starting at $425 for the cheapest versions. I’m not saying they’re not worth it! But I am so grateful that they have finally hit mainstream and are available at the mass retailers.

Ranging from $60 to $100, I’d definitely rather take my chances on these designer knock-offs. Besides, they do come in a much bigger selection of different fabrics, colors, and even styles from retailers like Jeffrey Campbell and Steve Madden. Enjoy my fabulous five alternatives for the oh-so-haute Jenni Kayne’s, and Be sure to tell me what you think of them down below!

Chinese Laundry ($59)

chinese-laundry-easy-does-it-rose-gold-metallic-dorsayMetallics have been HUUUGE this year, and I expect no different this fall. That’s why my first pick are these tres chic flats from Chinese Laundry – nicknamed the ‘Easy Does It’ flat. And if you’re not a big stickler for Metallics, you can get them in other styles as well.

What to wear it with: Cuffed tapered boyfriend (aka skinny slouch) jeans, thick and simple belt, crew neck thin sweater with the sleeves rolled up and an uber girly statement necklace.

Jeffrey Campbell ($89)

My next pick are these Jeffrey Campbell ‘In Love’ flats. Campbell, as usual, gives you a larger than life variety of choices, from snakeskin to leopard print to smooth suede. Plus, I am absolutely in love with the two-toned style – also a big trend this year.

What to wear it with: Dark-colored skinnies, a cute tee (tucked in), and some Ray-Bans? Simple – but classic.

Shoemint Ciella ($80)

I am lovin’ these striped d’orsay look-a-likes – with a twist! These babies have got some adorable ankle straps, which add to the stripe-y pattern of the Ciella shoe. But if you’re not ready to go all-out with the strappy-stripe combo, you can get them in hot pink or aqua.

What to wear it with: Ankle length trousers and a front tucked silk or cotton blouse.

Steve Madden ($99)

These blingy beauties are undoubtably on my must-have list! Mr. Madden, known for his cheap(er) knock-offs put a bit of a twist on the original d’orsays by rounding off the toe. The studs really add to any and every outfit, and presumably can be dressed up or down.

What to wear it with: Waxed black jeans, oversized white tee and a biker jacket. Handkerchief around your neck optional.

Report ($70)

Last, but most certainly not least, are these super-sweet Sophes from Report. Also starring a rounded toe and two-toned look, these flats are any style guru’s go-to! Plus, the suede + dark teal make these flats a great pick to fall!

What to wear it with: A knee length A-line dress and Cardigan. Hair in a pony? SO AUDREY!
