Best Dressed of the Week: Michelle Williams in Burberry Prorsum

Michelle+Williams+Oz+Great+Powerful+PremierePulling off a mid-length dress isn’t always easy, but the petite actress Michelle Williams made it look sleek and easy at the London premiere of her latest film, Oz: The Great and Powerful. Michelle rocked a stunning emerald and cobalt feathered sweetheart, belted sheath from Burberry Prorsum along with heightening, funky Jimmy Choo shoes. Simple makeup, a strong side part, and a single Solange Azagury-Partridge ring kept the look all about her and this sexellent fashion moment. Flaunt those feathers, girl!

Best Dressed of the Week: Michelle Obama in Jason Wu

michelle obama in jason wu statue of libertyI tried to find a better dressed woman this week. But there is just no way to top Michelle Obama’s Inauguration gown in a chiffon and velvet crimson red custom Jason Wu gown. WOW.  I love the way the halter accentuates her stunning shoulders and the flowy ease of her body in the red waves of the diaphanous chiffon. The arm of bangles and her brand new bangs brought appreciated modernity and solidified the look as one of a goddess. An American Goddess! Which, wait, OMG, IDEA! What if…what if there was a way for Jason Wu to redesign the Statue of Liberty to be exactly this? Because I promise, this is what freedom looks like – gleaming, bright, beautiful and free-flowing. sigh.

Best Dressed of the Week: Allison Williams in Peter Som

I get very excited when any of the Girls cast members go to a party. They dress for their age, which is to say daringly, uniquely and fascinatingly. Which makes Allison Williams at the CFDA dinner an easy call for Best Dressed. Attending the fashion-folk-only fete on the arm of designer Peter Som, she picked one of his powder pink teal-length sheath dresses from his super flirty Spring 2013 collection. She wears it beautifully, and I love how such a modern body could look so soft and elegant. It’s the perfect combination of sweet and edgy, sexy and classy. I also love how her warm makeup (this may be the very first time in my life I’ve lusted for blue eye shadow!), dagger diamonte earrings and charcoal strappy Jimmy Choo’s heats up the pretty pastel for winter. To be perfectly honest, I cold do without the little bow in the center, but I’m being picky. Way picky.

Let’s hope Girls keeps on doing well so we can keep on seeing Allison (and the rest of the hip cast) on red carpets for years to come!).

Best Dressed of The Week: Carrie Underwood in Tsemaye Binitie

I think Carrie Underwood has great taste, but I tend to nit pick her choices for fit and proportion issues. She has short legs, but somehow, doesn’t hem her pieces to accommodate that. She wore some beautiful pieces while hosting the Country Music Awards last night, but she hit a home run when she performed in Tsemaye Binitie‘s high-low gown customized just for her (hence, no reason to pick apart proportion).

|Tsemaye was one of my favorite discoveries at NYFW! Check out my other faves and pics from his upcoming collection.|

The one-of-a-kind gown was just the rockstar edge the country girl needs. It wasn’t predictable beaded, instead,  it features sheer sleeves with rhinestones and a black geometric leather pattern on the chest. The silver belt added a hardness to contrast with that sensual silk and those fingerless gloves? Well, I’m happy to see she’s taking style cues from fellow American Idol Adam Lambert. Shoes, egh. They match the belt, kinda mess with the proportion Tsemaye nailed. Still, so happy for Tsemaye and Carrie.

Best Dressed: Kristen Stewart in Zuhair Murad’s floral, mesh and lace dress

Welcome back, Kristen Stewart! And thank you for doing it such an incredible dress! Balancing demure with sweetness, Kristen’s mesh and lace and floral embroidered Zuhair Murad sheath is a stunner on her. A not too perfect pony with modern sleek sides and a messy, full-bodied crown and a magenta lipstick rounded out the fab frock. Simple shoes and no accessories let the actress carry off the dress and not the other way around. With a dress that’s already more, less is REALLY more.

Best Dressed of the Week: Daniela Virgilio

In a sea of  the seemingly constant shimmer we see on the carpet these days, it’s a breath of country fresh air to see embroidered and slightly sequined petite florals. But Italian actress Daniela Virgilio didn’t let the high slit dress go too femme, opting for a sheer, bowtie-adorned high neck with embroidered detail. And those Fendi sandals modernized the look along with her sleek bob. Flawless execution of contradiction. Equal parts sexy to cute. Love it.

Best Dressed of The Week: Rachel Weisz in Dior Couture

rachel weisz in dior coutureAhhh! Raf Simons, you little genius! YOU are doing to Dior what Tom Ford did to Gucci: simplified, streamlined, and structured! GREAT! THANK YOU! And thank you for picking a curvaceous girl like Rachel Weisz to debut your first couture collection on the red carpet! I love the cut of this strapless boustier and how it softens her shoulders and emphasizes her tiny waist. The length is perfection: ladylike and sensual, giving way to let a stunning, artistic pair of shoes attempt to steal the spotlight. Well done, Rach & Raf!

Best Dressed of the Week: Elizabeth Banks in Peter Pilotto

There’s something about hot, funny, well-dressed women that just makes me so giddy. That a woman can be known more than for just being pretty, or just being smart, or just being well-dressed, or whatever one-dimensional reason that women are so often “famous.” Elizabeth Banks takes fantastic fashion risks, but this one is one that will go down in the record books of red carpet perfection. The Peter Pilotto sequin and floral sheath with teardrop shaped key holed neckline fits her fantastically well, is edgy enough to be different, but is altogether classic. Classic.

Best Dressed of the Week: Krysten Ritter in Alice + Olivia

She’s so funny. And so cute. And here, this little black lace Alice + Olivia dress makes Krysten Ritter downright Audrey Hepburn sexy. The patent belt is the perfect touch, a simple black earring lady-like and perfectly obvious. The striking red pumps were the sartorial cherry on top (or bottom? Whatever). Excellent work, Ilaria! Way to rock it, Krysten! I hope her show blows up so we get to see more splendid choices!

Also, peek my interview with Krysten from the Alice + Olivia fall 2012 presentation! She’s so adorbs.

Best Dressed of the Week: Miley Cyrus

Photo: Zimbio.com

I’ve been a long time fan of Miley Cyrus. Ever since she ditched Hannah Montana, she’s been free to explore her adult side, and to be perfectly honest, there’s been nothing untasteful or ungorgeous about it. She’s able to pull of red carpet glamour and everyday grunge in a day, without looking like anything or anybody but herself. THAT is an accomplishment. Her last three public apppearances are proof that this girl’s got it.
