Ask Kimmy: What to Wear to a Fall Wedding?
Budget: Come on Kimmy, within reason
Hi Kimmy, I have a wedding coming up in early November and I live in New England. I have absolutely no clue what to wear for this time of year! Any ideas?
Hi Ashley! A fall wedding sounds so romantic — the gorgeous colors and clean fresh air sets a perfect scene for love! I would love to see you play up the fall colors and the fabrics that will help you stay warm despite wearing very few pieces. I also am a fan of Uniqlo’s Heattech tanks — they’re ultra thin so they layer seamlessly under most clothing. Another essential? Tights with a wee bit of wool blended in! Wolford’s are my favorite (they’re the only ones that don’t make me itch)! So imagine those with each item below and you’ll feel super warm all night long (not just after rocking that dance floor).
Fall must have? LACE! You can almost smell the sweetness of this cinnamon colored lace long sleeve dress from Modcloth ($85)! Pair with black tights and these chocolate brown patent open toed shoes from ASH ($69). A cute tuxedo jacket is the on trend alternative to a tired-out pashmina or shrug. I love Aqua’s from Bloomingdale’s ($148)!
Another fall favorite in evening wear is mesh, espesh with metallics. And I thounk you’ll love the fact that this bodycon mini is a whopping $61 at Asos.com. I love that this dress should hit just above the knee of your 5’2″ frame giving it a 60s-esque girlishness. Pop it with a pair of platforms, like River Island’s sweetheart toe heels ($104) and top it with a fab faux fur jacket ($190).

A dark mahogany red or oxblood is a perfect style statement without standing out too strongly at a wedding. And this Helmut lang dress contains a good amount of wool to keep you warm. Slightly pricier at $290 at Bloomingdale’s, I think it has major longevity in your wardrobe. Imagine it at your first internship with a blazer with a pair of cute oxfords! And for a wedding, pop it with a statement necklace in contrasting mint, like this one from J.Crew ($135), along with black tights and a stunning pointy toe d’orsay like this gold trimmed pair from Pour la Victorie ($250).
All of these looks just need your finishing touch: a clutch! Foley & Corinna’s Clutchable Clutch ($225) to be exact. This clutch is so easy to dress up or down. it works as well at a wedding as it does a rock concert, so please please wear it to both!
